Speak and Seek collects no data. There are no accounts,
no ads, no analytics, and no tracking of any kind. Your child's speech is
processed on the device and is not stored or transmitted, unless you — the
parent — turn on an optional feature that says otherwise in plain language.
What the app processes on your device
Microphone audio while your child says a practice word.
Recognition runs on the device (Apple's speech framework; on-device mode is
requested whenever available). The recording is deleted immediately after
scoring — and any leftover from a crash is deleted at the next launch —
unless you turn on clip saving below.
Practice history (words attempted, results, streaks,
settings) is stored in a local database on your device only. Deleting a
profile removes every record and every saved clip for that child. The Parent
Zone also has a "Delete all app data" option that resets the app completely,
and deleting the app removes everything.
Optional features you control (all off by default)
Save practice clips: keeps short recordings of practice
words on your device so you can replay them from the parent dashboard.
Capped at the best and the most recent clip per word; older clips are
deleted automatically. Never uploaded.
High-accuracy mode (Azure): if you enter your own
Microsoft Azure Speech key, attempt audio is sent to your Azure
resource for phoneme-level scoring, governed by Microsoft's terms and your
Azure configuration. The key is stored in the device keychain. Turn it off
any time.
Sharing reports: the weekly PDF and CSV export leave the
device only when you tap share, via the iOS share sheet, to a destination
you choose.
Notifications: practice reminders are local
notifications scheduled on the device. Nothing is pushed from a server —
there is no server.
In-app purchases
The optional "Speak and Seek Unlimited" upgrade is sold through Apple's App
Store in-app purchase system, reachable only behind the parental gate.
Purchase processing is handled by Apple and by RevenueCat (our
purchase-management provider), which receives a random app-scoped identifier
and purchase state — never your child's name, speech, audio, or practice data.
No purchase is required to use the app's free content.
In-app currency (coins and shards) is earned only and can
never be bought with money. There are no consumable purchases of any kind.
Children's privacy
Speak and Seek is designed for children and complies with COPPA principles
by architecture: it collects nothing, transmits nothing, contains no ads or
third-party analytics, and has no external links outside the parental gate.
